Roof

How long can your under-roof panels be exposed to the elements?

Under-roof sheets Gutex Ultratherm and Gutex Multiplex Top can be freely exposed to the elements for three months.

Are your under-roof sheets rainproof? If so, from what roof pitch?

Under-roof sheets Gutex Ultratherm and Gutex Multiplex Top for roof pitches of 15° and above, meet the requirements of temporary roofing up to an undercut of the RDN of 8° and up to three additional requirements without glueing or covering with additional film. The panels are assigned to technical class UDP-A in accordance with ZVDH.

How do you fix your under-roof panels?

Fasten sub-roofing panels up to 60 mm thick with nails and staples that are at least galvanised: see also the technical data sheets. Gutex Ultratherm and Gutex Multiplex Top from a panel thickness of 80 mm upwards, you must fasten the underroof panels with approved screws. You will find the forms for dimensioning the fasteners here.

How far should your under-roof panels be from the chimney?

The distances to chimneys, flues or flue gas ducts are governed by the Fireplace Ordinances of the Länder (FeuV), § 8. The distance to combustible building materials is mainly determined by the type of flue and the temperature of the flue gas. If the flue gas temperature of the fireplaces does not exceed 160 °C at rated output, a distance of 5 cm is often sufficient. If you have any questions about the Fireplace Ordinance (FeuVo) of your Land, please contact the district chimney sweep responsible. The earlier you incorporate the Fireplace Ordinance into the planning of a new build or renovation, the easier it will be to implement.

Can Gutex wood fibre insulation boards be statically applied?

No,Wood fibre insulation panels are not static bracing elements and cannot be used for bracing.

What is the difference between "airtight" and "windtight"?

The term ‘airtight’ or ‘airtightness’ is used in DIN 4108-7:2011-01 and defined as the property of a building material, building component [...] of a building not to be penetrated by air or to be penetrated only to a limited extent. The airtightness layer (usually applied on the room side) prevents air from flowing through the building element (convection). This layer is usually combined with the function of an anti-diffusion layer. ‘Windproof’ or ‘wind impermeability’ describes the level of protection provided to the insulation in the building component against the passage of cold outside air. The operating principle of any insulation is based on the inclusion of air in the insulating material, which is why the ideal case is insulation that is closed on all sides.

General

What is the difference between Gutex Thermoflex and Gutex Thermofibre insulation?

Gutex Thermofibre is an insulation system that uses wood fibre blown into the compartments using a blower and pipes, making it flexible and independent of format.
Gutex Thermoflex is flexible wood-fibre insulation in board form, suitable for use between rafters and in latticework.
With both types of insulation, you benefit from the high moisture regulation and vapour diffusion properties of wood fibre insulation.

What should I use to cut Gutex Thermoflex?

Thinner board thicknesses or small quantities of flexible wood fibre insulation blanket Gutex Thermoflex can be cut with a knife for insulating materials.

For larger quantities, we recommend an electric insulation saw with a corrugated blade, such as Festool's cordless insulation saw or Bosch's Alligator.

Where can I find information on the components of your wood fibre insulation?

You will find the ingredients on the various product pages under "Description & Benefits" as well as in the technical data sheets available there under "Technical documents & Brochures".

Is your wood fibre insulation approved for use in construction?

Our wood-fibre board insulation is produced in accordance with DIN EN 13 171 and is CE marked on the basis of the declaration of performance. The calculation of thermal conductivity (design values) is governed by DIN 4108-4. A general technical approval with Ü marking is not required.

Blown-in insulation Gutex Thermofibre is approved with a European Technical Assessment (ETA), for which a Declaration of Performance is issued and marked with the CE mark.
